Performance information is most useful when it forms part of the way an operation is managed, rather than sitting separately from day-to-day delivery.
During my previous employment with a global IT services organisation, my responsibilities included KPI monitoring and analysis, communication with senior stakeholders and involvement in annual audits within employee IT equipment services.
This example describes an ongoing operational responsibility rather than a standalone project with a single completion date.
The context: service delivery and accountability
Employee IT equipment services involve operational activity that needs to be understood by both delivery teams and senior decision-makers.
My role connected performance monitoring with operational oversight, alongside engagement with senior stakeholders and participation in audit activity.
My contribution: monitoring and analysing performance
I monitored and analysed key performance indicators as part of my operational responsibilities. This work sat alongside communication with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation, including senior finance and executive roles.
The combination required attention to service detail and an ability to discuss operational matters with people whose responsibilities extended beyond the immediate delivery team.
Supporting audit activity
I also participated in annual audits relating to employee IT equipment services. This formed another part of the role’s focus on operational accountability.
Performance monitoring and audit involvement were distinct responsibilities, but both required a structured approach to understanding and communicating how the service operated.
The experience carried forward
This work developed my experience in KPI monitoring, analysis, senior-stakeholder communication and audit participation.
It also provided a practical foundation for connecting operational detail with the wider needs of the organisation.
What this means for smaller businesses
Through VitaAssist Consulting, I can bring that experience to operational reporting, performance monitoring and stakeholder communication.
The focus is on making information useful to the people responsible for the work: understanding what is being monitored, communicating it clearly and supporting informed operational discussions.
