A useful digital tool should make a task easier for the people using it, while fitting into the processes behind it.
During my previous employment with a global technology organisation, I led the development and integration of financing calculators designed to simplify access to indicative financing quotes.
The project combined business requirements, technical delivery and process improvement, with the aim of reducing manual effort and creating a more connected financing journey.
The challenge: making financing information easier to access
Employees and authorised business partners needed a straightforward way to obtain indicative financing figures.
The organisation also had manually maintained calculators that needed to be replaced with a more integrated solution.
The challenge was to make the initial quotation process more accessible while supporting the wider financing workflow.
My role: connecting business needs with technical delivery
Acting as project lead, architect and subject matter expert, I worked with business stakeholders, marketing colleagues, technical specialists, developers and testers to define the requirements and coordinate delivery.
My responsibilities included:
- Clarifying the business need and agreeing the scope.
- Planning and sequencing development and deployment.
- Coordinating stakeholders across business and technical teams.
- Overseeing end-to-end testing and preparing users to use the tools.
- Managing risks, issues and progress communications.
- Leading the subsequent integration with the existing financing platform.
Combining project leadership with technical understanding helped me connect what stakeholders needed with how the solution would work in practice.
Developing the solution beyond the initial requirement
The calculators gave eligible users a way to obtain indicative financing quotes without first entering the full financing platform.
The solution was subsequently expanded to meet additional business requirements, including replacing manually maintained calculators used by another internal team.
I coordinated that expansion alongside the integration work, keeping delivery aligned with the agreed requirements and wider financing process.
Connecting the tools to the wider workflow
The project extended beyond providing indicative figures.
I also led integration with the organisation’s existing financing platform, enabling approved financing contracts to be generated without an additional manual processing step.
The distinction was important: an indicative quote supported an initial discussion, while contract generation formed part of the wider approval and financing workflow.
The outcome: more accessible tools and less manual processing
The project delivered digital financing calculators, replaced manually maintained alternatives and connected the tools to an established financing platform.
The result was a more streamlined process—from obtaining indicative financing information to generating approved contracts—with less need for manual intervention.
What this means for smaller businesses
The underlying approach is relevant beyond financing: understand the task, identify unnecessary manual steps and connect the tools involved.
A calculator, spreadsheet or standalone application may solve an immediate problem. Looking at how it fits into the wider workflow can reveal opportunities to reduce repeated work and improve the handover between stages.
Through VitaAssist Consulting, I bring that combination of project leadership, technical understanding and practical process improvement—helping businesses turn operational requirements into workable digital solutions.
